Development

Where the story begins: In 2000 our founders met with Peter Keen, Performance Director at British Cycling with the vision of creating the ultimate indoor bike.

2008


First product launch
Wattbike Pro/Trainer was launched in 2008 at the Track Cycling World Championships and endorsed by British Cycling. Wattbike is the first choice for elite sports teams, athletes and testing labs, including England Football, Team GB, British Cycling, Porsche and Red Bull. But they’re not just for pros - Wattbike is the perfect indoor trainer for those serious about getting fitter.

2009


Global distribution began.

2011


Giant secured as lead manufacturer.

2012


Health and fitness market
Wattbike was adopted by all major health and fitness providers in the UK including Virgin Active, David Lloyd & Nuffield Health.

2014


UCI World Cycling Centre

In September 2015, Wattbike was chosen as the global talent ID and training tool of the UCI World Cycling Centre. Housed in six of the UCI’s satellite centres around the world, the Wattbike is at the heart of their search for future stars.

Model B Monitor with Bluetooth launched for Wattbike Pro/Trainer.

Wattbike Hub
The Wattbike Hub app was launched, a free training and analysis
platform featuring workouts, training plans and performance tests.

Pedalling Effectiveness Score (PES)
Our unique industry measurement, PES, was produced by Dr Barney Wainwright, to improve cycling effiency alongside our Polar View technology. Polar View is a visual display of your pedalling style.

Wattbike Atom
In September 2017, the world's smartest indoor bike, the Wattbike Atom, was launched into the home. With cutting edge accuracy and unrivalled realism, the Wattbike Atom replicates the resistance and sensation of riding outdoors, indoors.

2019


Wattbike Commercial Fleet
In 2019, the Wattbike AtomX and Wattbike Nucleus were launched into the commercial fitness space, both bikes feature a high definition Performance Touchscreen to elevate the cycling experience and instant feedback.

2020


Wattbike Education Platform launched supporting the education across Wattbike products, including access to workshops, courses and training videos.

The next generation
In July 2020, the next generation Wattbike Atom was launched. Reading your data 1000 times per second with an accuracy level of +/- 1%, the next generation Wattbike Atom improves your performance in real-time with precision data and analysis like no smart indoor bike ever has before.

All Blacks
Cementing a decade-long relationship between New Zealand Rugby, Wattbike becomes the official performance bike supplier to the All Blacks and Black Ferns.
