What is the Wattbike Healthspan Score?
The Wattbike Healthspan Score is a powerful, science-backed metric derived from VO2 Max that gives your members a clear understanding of their cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) — one of the most accurate predictors of long-term health and performance. It reflects how efficiently the heart, lungs, and muscles work together during exercise, offering meaningful insight into overall health and longevity.
The Wattbike Healthpsan Score can be an indicator of risk of illness and cardiovascular disease as well as being a fantastic benchmark allowing you to show your members and clients their health and fitness progression over time.
With no need for lab testing or additional equipment, members can complete a simple Healthspan Check workout on any Wattbike. In just as little as six minutes, they receive a personalised score they can understand, track, and improve — boosting motivation and increasing engagement.
The Healthspan Check is a benchmarking workout usually lasting between 6 and 12 minutes. Built in to the Performance Touchscreen and available via the free Wattbike Hub app, it starts at a low level and increases in intensity each minute.
The workout is guided from the Wattbike Performance Monitor giving both power and leg speed targets for the participant to follow.
Following the Healthspan Check workout, the rider gets a Healthspan Score alongside VO₂ and other metrics.
The Healthspan Score gives gym members or PT clients a clear measure of heart and lung health from an estimated VO₂ max. Taking into account age and biological sex it provides a reliable, lab-free score — validated to be accurate within ±2% of traditional VO₂ max tests.
